Page's Platefuls Blog Wins Gold at MarCom Awards
A Humbling Recognition
I have to admit, I’m still a bit surprised by this one. Today, I learned that our “Page’s Platefuls” blog series with Durham Region Tourism picked up a gold medal at the MarCom Awards. It’s one of those moments where you realize the impact of simply sharing what you love with others.
About the Blog
For those who might not be familiar, “Page’s Platefuls” has been my ongoing collaboration with Durham Region Tourism to showcase the incredible field-to-fork food scene we have here. Each post has been an opportunity to shine a light on the talented farmers, producers, and local businesses who make this region such a special place to cook and eat.
The blog started as a way to share my perspective on Durham’s culinary landscape—from exploring seasonal ingredients at local orchards and farms to creating recipes that celebrate what’s grown right here in our community. What began as simple recipe sharing evolved into something more: a celebration of our region’s agricultural heritage and the dedicated people who work the land to feed us well.
What This Means
The MarCom Awards recognize excellence in marketing and communication, and this gold medal is particularly meaningful because it validates the power of authentic storytelling in food media. More importantly, it’s a testament to the vibrant agricultural community we have here in Durham Region—from orchards like Archibald’s to the countless farms producing exceptional ingredients.
This recognition really belongs to the entire community—the farmers who grow incredible produce, the local businesses who support regional agriculture, and the Durham Region Tourism team who believed that a chef’s perspective on local ingredients could add value to how we share our region with visitors and residents alike.
Looking Forward
Winning this award is encouraging, but it doesn’t change the mission: to keep telling honest, compelling stories about the food and people that make Durham Region extraordinary. There are so many more stories to tell, more farms to visit, and more connections to make between the field and the fork.
Thank you to everyone who has read, shared, cooked from, and supported “Page’s Platefuls.” This gold medal is as much yours as it is mine.
